ダニエル 9:4-5 「ああ、私の主、大いなる恐るべき神。あなたを愛し、あなたの命令を守る者には、約束を守り、恵みを下さる方。私たちは罪を犯し、不義をなし、悪を行い、あなたにそむき、あなたの命令と定めとを離れました。」

Studying Daniel's prayer recorded here can be very helpful, because Daniel was one who was totally committed to God and who knew the God to whom he was committed. He starts off by acknowledging to Whom he is talking. This is just as Jesus taught His disciples to pray: “Our Father in heaven.” If we don't have a grasp of who is listening, our words just kind of dissipate in the air. Daniel understood that God is powerful and to be feared, and also that He is gracious. Both of those aspects of God are essential if we are to approach Him correctly. Having stated to Whom he was talking, Daniel then turns immediately to confession of sin. When we realize the holiness of God we are confronted with our own sinfulness, and if we fail to grasp His love and grace at the same time, we will run from Him instead of to Him. However, the more we know of God and the more intimate we become with Him, the quicker we will be to confess and repent the moment we become aware of our sin, and the greater our release and joy at His forgiveness. When Daniel prayed like this, it is no wonder that he was heard as soon as he began to pray, as it specifies in verse 23!

ダニエルの祈りを読む事は大変役に立ちます。彼は神に完全に仕え、神を知っている人だったからです。まず、どなたに語りかけているかを彼はよく分かった上で、語っています。これはイエスが弟子たちに「天の父」に祈るように教えたことと同じです。もし祈りを聞いてくださるお方を分かっていないなら、私たちの祈りの言葉は空中霧散することでしょう。ダニエルは神様に力があり、恐れるべきお方であり、しかしまた恵み深いお方であると知っていました。神様に正しく近づきたいなら、これらは大切なことです。どなたに語っているかを、まず知り、それからダニエルは直ちに罪を告白しました。神の聖さを知るならば、私たちは自身の罪と直面せざるを得ません。さらに神の愛と恵みを分からないならば、神から逃げてしまい、神に近づけないでしょう。しかし、神を知れば知るほどに、ますます神と親しくなれるのです。告白と罪の悔い改めが早いほどに、神の赦しによって得られる喜びと解放が大きくなるのです。ダニエルがこのように祈った時、彼の祈りは、23節に具体的に書いてあるように、すぐさま聞き入れられました。

I have long considered intimacy with God in prayer to be a priority in my life, but I haven't always acted like it. People who hear me pray out loud aren't aware of my confessions of sin and the times God has “taken me to the woodshed” to straighten me out, and they are sometimes intimidated by the relationship that is expressed in my prayers. That presents something of a problem in teaching them to pray! I need to be patient, and as repetitive as necessary, until they grasp the amazing joy and privilege that prayer is, and commit themselves to grow deeper in intimacy with God.

祈りにおいて神と親しい関係にあることを、私に人生の第一優先と考えてきましたが、いつもそうであったとは言い難いようです。私が声を出して祈るのを聞いた人は、私が罪の告白をし、神様が私が正すために「小屋に連れていく」ことをなさっていることに気がつかないでしょう。彼らは私の祈りで表される神様との関係に驚くことさえあります。彼らに祈りを教えることが難しい点です。忍耐強くあり、必要とあれば繰り返し、彼らが驚くべき喜びを祈りの特権を分かるまで教えていきます。そして彼らが神に献身してさらに神との深い関係になることを希望しています。

Father, thank You for Your grace toward me. Thank You for the assurance of Your love. Help me respond rightly to that love all the time, and not just sometimes. Help me walk in full appreciation of Your holiness, taking to heart Your command to be holy as You are holy. You know even better than I do that I can't possibly do that without Your help! Help me indeed lead the flock into intimacy with You, seeking You with my whole heart and teaching them to do the same, so that together we may be a people rightly related to You, drawing many more into Your kingdom for their salvation and Your glory. Thank You. Hallelujah!

お父様、私への恵みを感謝します。あなたの愛を確信できることを感謝します。その愛に、時にではなく、いつも呼応できますように。あなたの聖さを心から感謝し、あなたの聖さと同じくあなた殻の聖なる召しを心に刻んで、歩むよう助けてください。あなたの助けなしに、なしえないことを、あなたは私以上に御存じです。あなたと親しくなれるように、群れを導いていけますように。あなたを心から求め、彼らにも同じように教えていけますように。そうすることで、互いが正しくあなたと結び合わされ、御国に多くの人が導かれますように。人々の救いとあなたのご栄光のために。有難うございます。ハレルヤ！
