詩篇 118:27 主は神であられ、私たちに光を与えられた。

There is both simplicity and power in this confession. In human society we have many “lords” of one sort or another, and this is a reminder that our Lord is the Creator of the universe. From the other direction, it is a reminder that the Creator has absolute authority in our lives; He is the one to whom we must answer. He is Lord. The second half of this is another profoundly simple statement: He has given us light. We are prone to forget that without God we have no light, either in terms of understanding or in terms of life itself. (The Bible essentially equates light with life in many places, such as John 1:4.) Gratitude is one of the most valuable character traits, When we are grateful, all sorts of good things follow, but when we are ungrateful, resentment and a lot of other unpleasant things follow. When we remember that God is our Lord and we owe everything to Him, then we are able to order our lives rightly.

この箇所には単純でかつ力強さがあります。人間社会で私たちはあらゆる多くの「主」を持っていますが、これは全世界の創造主である私たちの主を思い出させるものです。他方向から、創造主は私たちの生活の中において絶対的な権限を持っており、私たちが応答すべき方は彼だということを思い出させるものです。彼こそが主です。この文の後半では、彼が私たちに光をお与えになったという、またまた非常に単純なステートメントであります。私たちは神様なしでは明るさの光をも命の光をも、ないということを忘れがちです（聖書ではヨハネによる福音書1章4節などに書かれているように多くの箇所で命の光と基本的に同一視しています。）感謝の気持ちはもっとも価値のある性格の特質の一つです。私たちが感謝をすると、すべてのその種の良い事がそれに続きます。しかし私たちが感謝のをしないと、怒りや多くのほかの不快な事が続きます。神様は私たちの主であり、私たちは彼にすべてのことに関して恩恵を被っていることを覚えると、私たちは自分たちの生活を正しく整えることができます。

Considering my background, all of this should be totally automatic for me by now, but sadly, it isn't. I still have moments of ingratitude and resentment, as well as moments of failing to yield lordship to God, or of failing to really trust that He is able to follow through on His word. I demonstrate my lack of wisdom all the time! However, God is truly gracious, and He keeps teaching me the lessons I have so much trouble learning well. As I shepherd the flock God has put under my care, I must extend to them the grace that has been extended to me, teaching, encouraging, admonishing, training, so that together we may grow to be all that God desires and intends, for His glory.

私のバックグランドを考えると、これまでの私の人生で、このすべてのことは私にとって全く自然であるべきことです。しかし悲しいことにそうではありません。私はまだ忘恩で怒りを覚えるときがあります。同様に神様へ支配権を委ねなかったり、彼が自分の言葉を最後までやり通すことができることを本当に信用していない時があります。私はいつも自分の知恵の無さを実証しています。私は神様が私の元におかれた信徒の群れの指導者として、私たち皆が一緒に神様が願われご計画されている者になるよう、私は彼らに私が神様から注がれた恵みや、教え、励まし、忠告、そして訓練を与えなければなりません。

Father, thank You for this reminder. I find that it's not often You give me really new revelation, but I certainly need a lot of reminding! Keep me growing in applying the truth You have placed in me, so that I won't deceive myself by thinking head knowledge is enough. Help me be a doer of Your Word indeed, so that I may lead others to do likewise, for their blessing and Your glory. Thank You. Praise God!
