使徒 17:22-31

S: 使徒 17:23 「私が道を通りながら、あなたがたの拝むものをよく見ているうちに、『知られない神に』と刻まれた祭壇があるのを見つけました。そこで、あなたがたが知らずに拝んでいるものを、教えましょう。」

O: Paul started with where people were. He didn't berate them for worshiping multiple gods, but rather picked up an entry point from what he had seen in their culture. Japanese have trouble with the idea that there's only one God, so it's far more productive to demonstrate the unconditional love for which they are hungry, and then when they have “taken the bait,” so to speak, explain the Creator who is the source of true love. Cultural barriers to faith are much higher than they need to be, because as Paul says in Romans, there is no society in which God has not left a witness. The DVDs of “God's Fingerprints in Japan” are a very reasonable example of this, and should be required instruction for every missionary.

Ｏ：　パウロは、まず人がどういった状態にあるかを見極め、そこから始めています。パウロは多神教の彼らを叱ったりはしていません。むしろ、彼らの文化的側面を見ることから始めています。日本人は唯一の神という概念に困難を感じる人が多いのですが、愛情に餓えている人に無償の愛を示すことは、非常に良い結果を生みます。それから真の愛の方である創造主を説明するとよいでしょう。文化の壁というものは信仰にとって大きい妨げとなります。しかしパウロがローマ書で、どの社会にも神様は証し人を配しておられる、と教えています。「God's Fingerprints in Japan]というＤＶＤを見ると、このことが良く分かるでしょう。宣教のための良い教えとなると思います。

A: I have long been aware of this, yet I still have my own cultural biases, despite being raised in both Japanese and American culture. I need to be active in picking up on where people are and starting from there, rather than dumping a lot of “churchese” on them. When people like S choke on the whole concept of monotheism, I need to love them anyway. When people like F accept monotheism as such but choke on the deity of Christ, I still need to love them anyway. The love of God knows no barriers, cultural or otherwise!

Ａ：　日米両文化のもとで育った私ですが、文化に対する偏見を長く持っています。いまだに払しょくできません。ただ単に教会を強いるのではなく、人が今ある状態から始め教えていきたいと思います。Ｓさんは一神教を納得できません。それでも彼を愛していきます。Ｆさんのような人たちは一神教を受け入れはしますが、キリストという神に受け入れられないでいます。それでも私は彼らを愛していきます。神様の愛に文化の障壁などないからです！

P: Father, thank You for Your faithfulness despite my weaknesses. Thank You for the young people You are bringing into our church, whose culture is quite different from their elders'. I pray that You would give me wisdom and grace to speak into each culture that is represented in our church, so that together we may experience and demonstrate Kingdom culture, for the salvation of many and for Your glory. Thank You. Praise God!

Ｐ：お父様。弱い私にもあなたは真実であってくださり感謝します。この教会に若い人を多く連れてきてくださり感謝します。彼らの文化は年配層の文化と異なります。若者に知恵と恵みを授けてください。この教会の代表として、それぞれの文化の中に入り、語っていくよう祈ります。御国を示し、知ることができますように。多くの人が救われますように。あなたのご栄光のために。有難うございます。神様を賛美します！
