ローマ 14:1-23

S: ローマ 14:7-8 私たちの中でだれひとりとして、自分のために生きている者はなく、また自分のために死ぬ者もありません。もし生きるなら、主のために生き、もし死ぬなら、主のために死ぬのです。ですから、生きるにしても、死ぬにしても、私たちは主のものです。

O: Wow! I certainly specified a passage with plenty to write about! These two verses, and actually more, go back to the whole question of who we belong to. As yesterday's passage said, we are members of one another, but that isn't the same as property rights. We only have one Owner, one Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom and for whom we were created. Paul actually refers to this a great deal, calling himself a slave of Christ. Most translations soften that to something like “bond servant,” but Paul was talking about who owned him. When we get that through our heads, all issues of rights or obedience go out the window. This could well be why God allowed the institution of slavery ever to exist: so we would understand that we belong to Him on every level. This is why it's such a big deal that God has provided for our adoption as sons by faith in Jesus Christ. The adoption of a slave wasn't unprecedented in Roman society, but it was always a big deal, because it changed everything about a person's status. When we understand that before Christ we were dirt but through faith we become children of God, our outlook on everything changes.

O: すごいですね！本当に、このローマ書１４章は述べたいことが山ほどある章です。この二つの節は（実は他にももっとあるのですが）私たちが誰に属しているかの問題に帰結する内容です。昨日の御言葉では、私たちは互いに器官であることを学びました。が、それぞれ全く同じ権利を持っているというわけではありません。私たちはただお一人の持ち主、羊飼い、主イエスを持っています。この方を通して、そしてこの方のために、人は創られたのです。パウロはこのことに関し多く言及しています。自らをキリストの奴隷とさえ呼んでいます。殆どの訳では「繋がれた奴隷」という言葉を避け、柔らかい表現になっていますが、パウロは誰が所有者であるかについて語っています。このことを理解できると、権利に関する全ての問題は霧散するでしょう。それで、なぜ神様が奴隷制度を容認されたかについての理解の一助となるでしょう。つまり、あらゆるレベルで私たちが神様に属していることを知るためです。ですから、イエス・キリストによる信仰によって私たちが子供となるようにしてくださったのは、大きな意義あることなのです。ローマ社会においては、奴隷制度は前例のないことではありませんでした。しかし、それでも大きな問題でした。個人の地位を変える制度だからです。キリストが現れる前、人は塵にすぎなかったことを覚えておきましょう。ただ信仰によって神様の子供とされたのです。それによって全ての展望が変わったのです。

A: This is the foundation of what I try to get through to people, and to believers in particular. As I have been saying for years now, when Japanese believers wake up to who they are in Christ they will change the nation and the world. I have a lot of misunderstanding to deal with, because people don't understand that they are God's property, and then when they come to Christ they don't understand that they have truly become God's children, and all that means. I must continue to seek the help of the Holy Spirit and make myself available to Him, because it's abundantly clear that I can't get this truth across to people in my own strength and wisdom, as wonderful as this truth is.

Ａ：　これこそ私が人々に、特に信者に分かってもらいたいと思っている基本です。日本人はキリストにあって何者かについて目覚めると、この国と世界が変わると、もう何年も教えてきましたが、私は大きな誤解をしてきていました。日本人は神様の特質を理解していません。ですから、彼らはキリストの御前でも神様の子供になっていることを真に分かっていません。聖霊様の助けを求めながら、私自身用いられたいと望んでいます。私だけの力、知恵で、この素晴らしい真実を人に知らせることはできないからです。
P: Father, thank You for Your overflowing grace. Thank You for getting Cathy and me home safely last night, and for all You did during this trip. Thank You that I get to preach to the flock tomorrow. I ask for clear guidance as to what You want me to feed them, so that they will be nurtured as You intend. Thank You for Your plans for this day and each day. Help me rest in You today, flowing with Your Spirit on Your schedule, so that all I do may be in You and for Your pleasure and glory. Thank You. Hallelujah!
