第１コリント 1:1-17

S: 第１コリント 1:9 あなたがたを、神に御子、私たちの主イエス・キリストの交わりに入れるようにお召しになった神は、真実です。

O: I am so struck with the impact of the NIV translation here that I took the liberty of rearranging the Japanese translation to match it. The Shinkaiyaku translation, rendered back into English, comes out as, “God is faithful, and by His calling He has brought you into fellowship with our Lord Jesus Christ.” That's not a bad translation, but the emphasis is more on the fellowship than on the faithfulness of God. Actually, both emphases are important, but trying to have fellowship on a merely human basis is ultimately self-defeating. That's the problem with the vast majority of “world peace,” “one world,” “brotherhood of man” movements: they leave out the Fatherhood of God. As Paul stresses throughout this and the following chapters, we are responsible to work toward unity, but it ultimately rests on God. We can only truly agree with one another when we mutually agree with God. That's why it is so vitally important that God is faithful: otherwise we have no hope.

O: 私はこのＮＩＶ訳に大変、感銘を受けています。それで、日本語にアレンジし直して使っているほどです。新改訳は「神は真実であり、その方のお召しによって、あなたがたは神の御子、私たちの主イエス・キリストとの交わりに入られました」となっています。これも悪い訳ではありませんが、神の真実よりも、交わりの方に重きを置かれています。実は、どちらも強調すべき大切なことなのですが、単に人間的見方での交わりならば、究極的には自己敗北になってしまいます。これが、「世界平和」「一つの世界」「兄弟愛」ムーブメントで多くの人が抱えている問題です。彼らは神様の父性を省いてしまっています。この節と次の章でパウロは、私たちは一致のために働く責任があることを教えています。しかし、それも究極的には神様に存することです。神様と心が合うならば、私たちも互いに心から同意しあえるでしょう。だからこそ、神様が真実であることがとても大切なのです。さもなくば希望はありえません。

A: This is an issue in this church and probably every church. We tend to focus on our differences and our disagreements instead of on our common Lord, Jesus Christ, and unity falls by the wayside. I cannot force anyone to turn their eyes to Jesus, but I can and must encourage them to do so. That's not so difficult to do when I am mediating between two saints, but when the problem is between one of the saints and me, it can become difficult indeed! That's one of the reasons plurality of leadership is so important. With monolithic leadership, those with a difference of opinion feel they have nowhere to turn, and the person leading has no accountability. That's why it is such a blessing that I currently have two brothers in this body who will both disagree with me and encourage me. Together we need to focus on Christ, to listen to and obey Him, so that His unity may be manifested throughout this church for His glory.

Ａ：　これは、私の教会でもそうですが、他の教会でも恐らく同じ問題となっていることでしょう。私たち共通の主であるイエス・キリストにでではなく、個々の違い、個々の不協和にばかり目を向けがちです。ですから一致が脇におかれたままです。強制してイエスを見上げさせることはできませんが、そうするように彼らを励ますことなら私にもできます。二人の聖徒の問題解決をしている時など、大して難しいことではありませんが、聖徒と私の間に問題が生じた時は本当に大変です！これが複数の指導者がいた方が良いとされるゆえんです。指導者が一人だと意見の相違をどこに訴えるべきかが曖昧になり、指導者の義務責任がうやむやになってしまいます。私に同意はしていませんが、それでも私を励ましてくれる二人の兄弟がこの教会にいることは、大きな祝福だと思うのです。ともに、キリストに焦点を合わせ、聞き従いたいと思います。この教会で神様にある一致が現れ、ご栄光が帰せられますように。

P: Father, thank You for all You are doing in and among us. Thank You for enabling me to let go of situations better than I have in the past, so that I trust You with them rather than being anxious. I ran into a lot more troublesome situations while we were in the US; help me entrust those to You as well, particularly those in which I can have no direct impact. Help me be faithful to pray, without taking these situations up as my personal burdens when You haven't given them to me. Help me rather remember, trust, and celebrate Your faithfulness, for Your glory. Thank You. Praise God!
