第１ペテロ 2:1-10

S: 第１ペテロ 2:2-3 生まれたばかりの乳飲み子のように、純粋な、みことばの乳を慕い求めなさい。それによって成長し、救いを得るためです。あなたがたはすでに、主がいつくしみ深い方であることを味わっているのです。

O: I don't know how it is in the Greek, but the Japanese loses a little of the imagery that is evident in the English, because the term used in verse 3 doesn't apply to flavor, the way “good” does in English. The picture is actually a very clear one for anyone who has ever been around a small child. They are incapable of chewing, but they can kneed a nipple with their gums, and when they're hungry, that's what they want to do! There's no such thing as an infant that turns it's nose up at its mother's milk; it is the definition of “delicious” to them. In the same way, every true Christian has experienced receiving the Word of the Lord when it seemed almost too good to be true: it met their deepest need, and was “delicious” in every sense of the word. Unfortunately, sometimes we think we're beyond that, and we forget how delicious God's Word is if we will receive it into our hearts. As Hebrews points out, maturity calls for chewing on the harder stuff as well, but we must not forget the delight of letting the Lord refresh us with His Word.

O: 　ギリシヤ語の原文をよく知りませんが、3節の英文にある「good」の意味合いの表現が日本語訳には含まれていません。幼い子供といた経験のある人なら この箇所は良く分かるでしょう。子供はまだ咀嚼ができませんが、空腹のときは歯茎で噛もうとします。それこそ幼子の望むことです！子供が母乳を嫌がること などまずありません。それが幼子にとっての「美味しいこと」なのです。同じように、たとえ素晴らしすぎて信じられない教えのようでも、主の御言葉を頂き経 験しましょう。深い求めに答えてくれます。そして本当に「美味しいこと」として感じられます。残念なことに、自分たちを御言葉以上だと思い、神様の御言葉 を心に頂けずに、美味しさを味わうことができない時もあります。へブル書で指摘されているように、成熟とは固形物をかみ砕くことが求められますが、主が御 言葉でリフレッシュしてくださる喜びを忘れないようにしましょう。

A: One of my strong desires for the flock is that they delight in taking in the Word, drinking and eating and digesting and assimilating it so that they grow strong indeed. Naturally I desire that they receive what I prepare and serve them, but even more I want them to learn to take the Word in on their own, becoming fully “addicted” to it, so that they can't stay away from it, any more than a little baby can stay away from its milk. Some believers seem to go through cycles in their devotional life, taking the Word in hungrily for a while but then getting busy with other things and letting it slide, until some crisis reminds them of the riｃｈes that are to be found in the Bible. I need to be more clear, more encouraging, and perhaps more directive in telling the believers, reminding them, about daily devotions. I say it often, but we can no more be healthy spiritually without Bible reading and prayer than we can be healthy physically without food and oxygen!

Ａ：　私がこの群れに強く望むことは、彼らが真に成長するために御言葉を取り入れ、食べ、消化し、同化す る喜びを知ってもらうことです。当然、私が準備した言場を彼らに受け取ってほしいのですが、それ以上に彼らが自身で御言葉を学び、「中毒」なってほしいの です。そして赤ちゃんが乳から離れないように、御言葉から離れていないでほしいのです。信者の中には、御言葉に飢え渇きデボーションを繰り返す人もいます が、しばらくすると忙しくなり、御言葉から離れてしまいます。そして危機が訪れ、聖書に書かれている豊かさをなくして初めて気がつくのです。ですから、私 は信者にはっきりと、ますます励ましていき、日々のデボーションを続けるように、もっと直接的に話していこうと思います。しばしば言っていることですが、 聖書を読まずして、祈らずして、霊的な健康は保てません。それは丁度、体に食べ物と酸素が必要なのと同じことなのです！

P: Father, it took me a long time to get into a really solid habit of daily devotions. Help me not condemn the believers who aren't there yet, but also keep me from giving up on them when they don't see the importance of it. I don't believe for a moment that You desire “1^st tier” and “2^nd tier” children; You want us all to have full intimacy with You. Help me communicate that reality, breaking down and getting past the lies of the devil that seek to hinder that intimacy. After all, nothing is more intimate than the relationship of a nursing infant to his mother. May I be so closely related to You that You are free to work through me in the hearts and lives of those I deal with, drawing them likewise into intimacy with You, for their salvation and Your glory. Thank You. Praise God!

Ｐ：　お父様、日々のデボーションを習慣づけるまで私も長くかかりました。まだ、デボーションの習慣を持たない信者を非難することがないように助けてください。デボーションの大切さを分からない信者を私が諦めないように助 けてください。あなたは一部の子供だけを望んではおられません。あなたは私たち全てが心から親しく交わることを望んでおられるのです。どうぞ、その現実を 伝え、妨害をする悪魔の嘘を打ち壊すことができますように。幼子と母親との関係ほど親しいものはないのですから。私があなた親としくあり、私を通してあな たが周りの人の心と生き方に働いてくださいますように。彼らを同じようにあなたと親しい関係になれますように。彼らの救いとあなたのご栄光のために。感謝 します。神様を賛美します！
