S: マタイ 22:40 「律法全体と預言者とが、この二つの戒めにかかっているのです。」
O: This is a statement we forget to our peril. Every rule, every law, in the Church or in society as a whole, should be predicated on loving God and loving our neighbor. Anything else is automatically something less, and is a meaningless burden. Difficulties come in with how people define love, as well as in how they see and understand what God asks of them. The devil has so managed to twist Islamic theology as to have people believing that loving God means killing your neighbor. Civil law in the US was originally founded on Biblical principles, but it certainly has taken some wrong turns since then. As the recent arguments over the confirmation of the newest Supreme Court justice expressed, the rule of law requires adherence to the foundational documents, which in the case of the US would include both the Constitution and the Bible. Unfortunately, the devil has a strong lobby that's been working to throw out the Bible, and that certainly removes the first foundation of all law. However, that situation, though both current and important, seems quite removed from most people, especially those with little connection to the US. On a personal level, this verse means that we are to examine our every action and attitude in the light of love for God and for our neighbor, and repent of everything that doesn't measure up.
O: これは私たちが危険なほどにまで忘れてしまっている言葉です。教会や社会全体において、全ての規則、全ての法律は愛ある神様と愛ある隣人を基礎としてある べきです。そうでなければ、自動的に無意味な重荷となり下がってしまうでしょう。神様の人間に対する愛が分からず、なおかつ愛の定義づけができないことに 問題があります。愛ある神様が隣人を殺せと命じていると思い込ませるほどに、悪魔はイスラム教神学を歪曲してしています。アメリカの法律は聖書的原理を基 に構成されていますが、確かに誤った方向へと向かっています。新最高裁承認を巡る最近の論争に見られるように、法律というものは基本的書類に固執している べきです。つまり、アメリカの場合でいえば憲法と聖書です。残念なことに、全ての法の第一原理である聖書をないがしろにさせようと悪魔が働いています。こ の状況は殆どの人から剥奪されています。アメリカとあまり関連のない人々において殊にそうです。個人的レベルでこの節を見てみると、一人一人の行いと態度 を神様の愛と隣人愛にに照らして考えてみるべきです。そして補うべき点は悔い改めるべきです。
A: This is as important for me as it is for anyone else; I certainly don't get a “free pass” because I'm a pastor! I find I do have attitudes and actions that are less than loving, and repentance is frequently called for. The difficulty for me comes when true love for my neighbor calls for correction. I need to love my neighbor enough to risk rejection by speaking the truth to them. I must be careful that the way I speak to them coveys love to them as much as possible, but I must not let the risk of being misunderstood keep me from speaking, if the Lord is moving me to do so. I am not to reprimand people for my convenience but for their good. My motive for everything must be love for God and love for my neighbor, not love of pleasure, power, or any such thing.
Ａ： この言葉は誰にもまして私に大切です。私は牧師だからと言って「フリーパス」を持っていません。愛に十分とは言えない行いや態度だからです。そしてその度にしょっ中、悔い改めの必要を求められます。 私にとっての最大の困難は、真の愛を示すのが隣人を正すことにあります。真実を語って、それでたとえ拒否されるかもしれないという危険を負っていても隣人 を愛していきます。その時もできるだけ愛を伝えながら話すように注意深くありたいと思います。しかし誤解を恐れるあまり、真実を語るのをやめるてはいけま せん。主がそう望んでおられるのですから。問題にある人たちを私の都合のために叱責するのではなく、彼らの益となるためにそうします。全ては神様への愛と 隣人への愛が根底にあるべきです。決して快適な愛、権力のようなものであってはなりません。
P: Father, thank You for continually reminding me of the principles by which I am to live. Thank You for the habit of daily devotions to facilitate that. Thank You for the message You spoke through me yesterday about choices. Help us all choose rightly and consistently, so that the traps of the devil may be avoided and nullified and we grow into the likeness of Christ Jesus our Lord, for Your glory. Thank You. Hallelujah!
