マルコ 5:24-34

S: マルコ 5:34
そこで、イエスは彼女にこう言われた。「娘よ。あなたの信仰はあなたを直したのです。安心して帰りなさい。病気にかからず、すこやかでいなさい。」

O: Different cultures and languages use different expressions, and that can make translation really difficult. I feel sure the word Jesus used in Hebrew/Aramaic was “shalom,” but the English word “peace” only expresses a fraction of its richness. In this passage the Japanese picks up on a slightly different facet of the meaning, using a term that is common in Japanese but doesn't exist in English that means “without anxiety.” (A literal translation could be, “with a peaceful heart,” or “with peace of mind.”) I think that's far closer to what Jesus meant than what English speakers usually think of with “peace.” In any case, that can be as big an issue as the actual physical illness. We put ourselves through vast quantities of unnecessary suffering simply by being anxious about our situations. That's one reason the Bible says so many times not to be anxious. The dread of something is often worse than the reality, and in any case it won't improve the situation. Anxiety is one of Satan's chief tools for stealing our peace and joy, and the remedy is trusting God.

A: I had always thought I was a rather un-anxious person, until the day the Lord had to tell me personally, “Trust My love.” As much as anyone, I need to choose trust on a consistent, daily basis, or I will give the devil an advantage that he can't take for himself. I constantly deal with people who are tormenting themselves with anxiety. The devil is of course lending a hand, but it boils down to their own choice not to trust God. My job is to encourage trust, not with platitudes but with example, prayer, and Scripture. For the Christian, reality is never as bad as the devil wants us to think it is! Right now I'm in the middle of further training in this area, with a very heavy schedule that won't let up for a while yet. However, trusting ahead of time that God will get me through it will go a long way toward improving my peace, joy, and energy level in the process. The other half of that is letting go of resentment of the factors that got me into the situation in the first place. God is more than able to handle anything, and the better I realize and trust that fact, the better off I'll be.

P: Father, thank You for all You enabled me to get done yesterday. Thank You for all You will enable me to do today. I do pray that the display in the City Gallery will be effective in all of your purposes for it, both in drawing non-believers to You and in helping Christians be more aware of each other in our various churches. I pray with Jesus for the unity of the Body of Christ in Omura, that together we may be all that You desire and intend, for Your glory. Thank You. Hallelujah!

P: お父様。昨日のことを感謝します。今日も、また私が事を成せたことを感謝します。市民ギャラリーでの展示があなたの目的にかなったものとなりますよう に。未信者をあなたへと導き、すでにクリスチャンの方がますます教会にあって互いの自覚を持つように助けてください。大村の教会がイエスの体のために一つ になりますように。あなたの望まれるように私たち全員が一つになり働くように助けてください。あなたのご栄光のために。感謝します。ハレルヤ!
