S: ルカ 1:76-77 幼子よ。あなたはまた、いと高き方の預言者と呼ばれよう。主の御前に先立って行き、その道を備え、神の民に、罪の赦しによる救いの知識を与えるためである。
O: We have too limited a definition of prophecy. The description of John's calling as given by his father would apply to every evangelist today, indeed, to every believer who engages in evangelism. When Paul speaks of “earnestly desiring to prophesy,” (1 Corinthians 14:1) he is talking of communicating what God is saying to the people around you. We can be assured that something God is continually saying to everyone is “Repent, believe, and be saved.” When we try to do that in our own strength there is little if any fruit, but all that is required is being yielded to the Holy Spirit and praying that He will speak through us. God can and does speak pretty remarkable things through those who are yielded to Him, but the purpose is always to draw the hearers closer to Him, dealing with those things that stand in the way of the fellowship He desires. Often the biggest barriers to that fellowship are the lies that we believe about ourselves, so God speaks encouraging words to help us understand His love and our place in Christ. We cannot save ourselves, much less anyone else, but we can prepare the way for the Lord by giving people the knowledge of salvation, even as it was communicated to us.
Ｏ：預言に関しては、定義づけの限定が多すぎるほどあります。ヨハネの父が形容し ているヨハネの召しは、今日の全ての伝道者に応用できるものです。パウロが「預言をすることを熱心に求めなさい」（１コリント14：1）と語っています が、それは周りの方々に神様を伝えよと教えているのです。神様が全ての人に「悔い改め信じよ。そうすれば救われる」と教え続けていることに確信を持てるで しょう。自分の力で努力しても得るものはありません。しかし、聖霊様に従い、私たちに語ってくださるよう祈ることが必要なのです。従う人には神様は素晴ら しいことを語ってくださいますが、聞く人を神様に導くという目的でなされないと無意味です。神様の望んでおられる交わりに、妨げとなるものがあってはいけ ません。しばしば交わりの大きな妨げとなるのは、自分自身を信じるという嘘にあります。ですから、神様はキリストにある神様の愛と位置づけを知るように 語ってくださるのです。人は自分を救うことはできません。ましてや他の人を救うことなどできません。けれども救いの知識を人に与えることならできます。
A: I am in a position of actively communicating what God has said and is saying, and I certainly have plenty of material! My difficulty is in being sensitive to what God wants said at the particular moment, to the particular hearers. However, my experience has certainly been that if I will be faithful to open my mouth, God will be faithful to fill it with His words. I earnestly desire to encourage the believers to desire, seek, and expect the Lord to speak through them. However, I know from experience that there must be a commitment to obedience before that will be effective. I can't force anyone to make that commitment, but I can encourage those who have once done so to follow through.

P: Father, thank You for those in this body who are indeed following through with their commitment to Christ. I pray for those who have hit roadblocks of various sorts, that they would see those roadblocks for the lies that they are, and move on into all that You desire for them. I pray that we wouldn't settle into a 2-tier body, with those who are pressing on in Christ and those who are dead in the water, so to speak. Help us all catch a glimpse of the glory that You intend for us so that we won't be satisfied with anything less. May we all be Your prophets, Your spokesmen to communicate the good news of Your salvation to all, for Your glory. Thank You. Hallelujah!
