S: 第１テモテ 1:5 この命令は、きよい心と正しい良心と偽りのない信仰とから出てくる愛を、目標としています。
O: This is a very interesting verse, because we don't usually think of love in this way. That's probably because we know so little of agape love in the first place. As we think of love, it seems strange to say that the goal of commanding people not to teach false doctrines is love, but that's because we have trouble grasping genuinely unselfish love. It indeed takes a pure heart, an accurate conscience, and sincere faith to confront people for their good, rather than letting things slide. Likewise, we can't love God fully and accurately without these characteristics, but they aren't things we can just whip up on our own; we have to ask and allow God to generate them in us. God purifies our hearts by faith and cleanses our consciences by the blood of Christ, imparting the gift of faith to us, but we have to choose and seek that or it's not likely to happen. The power is God's, but the choice is ours.
O: 愛というものをここに書かれているようには、私たちは普通考えません。ですからその意味で大変、興味深い節です。先ず、第一に私たちはアガペの愛をあまり 理解していません。奇妙なことですが、誤った教義を教えないようにするのが愛だというのは奇妙なことです。なぜなら真の意味での無私の愛というものを私た ちは分かっていないからです。人々を善へと向かわせるためには純粋な心、良心と誠実な信仰心が必要とされます。また、こうした性質を抜きにして、私たちは 神様を充分に愛することができません。そして、強制されるべきものでもありません。ただ神様に頼み、神様に働いていただきましょう。神様は信仰によって私 たちの思いを清めて下さり、キリストの血によって良心を清めてくださいます。さらに信仰の賜物を与えて下さいます。ただ、そのためには私達は選択し、求め なくては得られません。御力は神にありますが、そのための選択を私たちはすべきです。
A: I've still got a lot to learn about love, in particular loving people enough to correct them at the risk of their disliking me. I've got to move from phileo, brotherly love, or storge, simply liking someone, to true agape, the selfless, unconditional love God has for us. That's a tall order, and possible only by the grace and power of God. The fact that it's not possible by my own strength or effort should draw me to it rather than drive me away, because it is when God's power is demonstrated in the middle of my weakness that His glory is revealed.
Ａ： 私も愛についてもっと多くを学びたいと思います。特に、私のことを快く思わない人を正すために愛したいのです。兄弟愛や、単に人を好きであると言った程 度ではなく、真のアガペ、無私、無条件の愛へと向かいたいのです。それは困難な仕事です。神様の恵みと御力なくしてはできません。私一人の力や努力では不 可能です。却って逆になりかねません。私が弱さのまっただ中にいる時こそ、神様のご栄光が現わされ、神様の御力が示されるのです。
P: Father, thank You for this Word this morning. Once again it's an unexpected insight. Help me indeed seek and receive Your power to love people as I should, rather than in whatever way is comfortable for me. Help me leave my comfort zone as far behind as necessary in order to lead and raise up the sheep, equipping and releasing them in the gifts and ministries You have provided for them, for the sake of the Body of Christ and for Your glory.
