O: The fact of the matter is, we are all tempted to give up at times. As a matter of fact, that's a major goal of the devil, and he works at it full time. That's why Christians need to encourage one another to keep our eyes on Jesus and remember His promises to us. Martyrdom isn't a pressing issue for Christians in Japan and the US, at any rate, though it is in various other parts of the world. What we have to deal with is being ground down by one little thing after another. Sometimes it's easier to make a conscious decision to trust God on some big issue that it is to maintain trust under a flood of smaller things. Probably the reason is that with the big things, we know we can't handle them on our own, while with the small things, we try to and even think we're supposed to. However, as Jesus said, apart from Him we can do nothing. (John 15:5) The better we get that through out heads, discarding all pride of accomplishment, the more we will be filled with “the peace of God, which passes all understanding.” (Philippians 4:7)

A: I have an almost constant battle with this. The bigger God's plans, the more the devil tries to trip me up with the details. Today's Gospel Music Workshop and tomorrow's concert are no exception. However, we have God's promise that He never tests us beyond what we are able to handle. (1 Corinthians 10:13) I need to keep growing in trust, knowing I can't handle any of it in my own wisdom and strength, but that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Last night's time of spiritual warfare was good. I need to be more actively aware of the battle, so as to keep my armor firmly in place and not be careless. I know that when I am in Christ I have nothing to fear!

P: Father, thank You for this word of encouragement. I need it! Thank You for all You have planned in these days. Thank You for the good ministry and teaching we could give and receive yesterday. Help us be open for both sides of that over the next several days as well. Give me the wisdom I need, not only to get things done but also in scheduling and priorities, so that I won't be waylaid by the devil's schemes. I pray that we would have good attendance in today's workshop and at tomorrow's concert, touching many people with Your love by Your Spirit. May we continue to grow as individuals and as a church, better and better demonstrating Christ to the world, so that more and more people may be drawn in, for their salvation and Your glory. Thank You. Hallelujah!
