S: ヘブル 4:2 ところが、その聞いたみことばも、彼らには益になりませんでした。みことばが、それを聞いた人たちに、信仰によって、結びつけられなかったからです。
O: Again I am faced with a passage that is overwhelmingly deep and beneficial, as well as richly familiar. However, the second half of verse two is something I don't think I've ever preached on, but it is quite significant. People can hear the Word of God until they're totally bored with it, and it still does them no good if they don't receive it with faith. As a matter of fact, being bored with it indicates a lack of faith! As this chapter goes on to say, the Word is powerful and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, and it can do us more good than we can imagine, but if we don't receive it with faith, it does us no good at all. Hard as it is to imagine, there are unbelieving Bible scholars today, just as in the days of King Herod there were scribes who could tell him that the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem, but they made no move to go themselves to see if it had perhaps happened.
Ｏ： またしても、よく知られ、深く有益な内容の節と出会いました。しかし、この文の後半については私は説教したことがないようですが、大変意義深いことが書 かれています。聞きあきるほどに神様の御言葉を聞いても、信仰と結びつかないなら有益とはなりません。実は、聞いていて飽きるというのは、それは信仰がな いことを示しているのです！この章が続けて教えていることですが、御言葉は力強く積極的です。両刃の剣よりも鋭く、想像以上に素晴らしく働くものです。し かし、それも信仰を持って受け取らないならば何のためにもなりません。想像すらできないことですが、今日、聖書を信じない聖書学者がいるのです。丁度、ヘ ロデ王の時代に、救い主がベツレヘムで生まれると聖書学者がいたのに、事実かどうか確かめに行かなかったのと似ています。
A: When I am so familiar with the Scriptures, I must be very careful that my reading and meditating on them is in faith, so that, as the Japanese translation puts it, they may be bound to me. I have seen many Bible promises fulfilled, but there are many more that I would like to see fulfilled. I need to fix my eyes on the One who alone can fulfill His Word and trust Him, implicitly and explicitly. At the same time, I must not be discouraged by those who do not receive the Word with faith, however faithfully I speak it to them, but rather pray for them and yield them to God, trusting Him to do far better with and for them than I ever could.
Ａ： 私は聖書に親しんでいるからこそ、注意深く読み、信仰を持って黙想するべきでしょう。日本語訳にあるように御言葉が私に結びつくためです。これまで聖書 の約束が多く成就してきたのを見てきましたが、もっと多くのことが成就されるのを見たいと願っています。御言葉を成就して下さるただ一人のお方にのみ、目 を向け、心の中でも、行動においても神を信頼していきます。私が信仰を持って語っても、御言葉と信仰が結びつかない人たちに失望することなく、むしろ彼ら のために祈り、神に従い、信頼していきます。私の働きよりも神様の方がはるかに素晴らしいのですから。
P: Father, thank You for this reminder this morning. As we have the Gospel Music workshop and mini-concert, there will be those who will hear and enjoy, but without faith. I pray that You would pour out the gift of faith, particularly on the participants, and that it would overflow to those who attend the concert as well. I pray that for all the believing participants, the focus would be on You and Your presence, more than on the music itself, so that You will be free to flow through us to touch and ignite those who are not yet on fire with Your Spirit. Thank You. Hallelujah!
