S: 第２テモテ 4:5 しかし、あなたは、どのような場合にも慎み、困難に耐え、伝道者として働き、自分の勤めを十分に果たしなさい。
O: Very sober, practical words from a man who was about to finish his ministry, and had certainly followed his own advice. We experience a wide variety of circumstances, but in every one of them we are to be thoughtfully obedient to God. We are going to run into difficulties, and we've got to deal with them and not go into a self-pitying panic. We are responsible to communicate the Gospel, that is, evangelize, whether that is our primary gifting or not. In all these ways and more, we are to fulfill the ministry to which God has called us. That is going to look different for every individual, but this verse as a whole is applicable to every Christian. Many who are familiar with this passage try to assign this verse to “professional Christians,” but that kind of segregation is completely unsupported by the rest of the NT. On the contrary, every one of these points can easily be backed up by multiple references from other writers than Paul., and by the words of Jesus Himself.

A: I spend much of my preaching/teaching time trying to communicate the various points in this verse to the believers, with varying success. That varying success must not keep me from trying, because that is my ministry! Difficulties with church members are among the things I've got to deal with, without descending into self-pity. I need to keep my eyes on the prize (verse 8, Philippians 3:14, Hebrews 12:2) and rejoice, regardless of whatever I might be going through at the moment

P: Father, thank You that You don't coddle us, but neither do You give us more than we can handle. As Mother Theresa said, sometimes I wish You didn't trust me so much, but help me trust You even more. Thank You for what You've been saying to me recently about letting You be the burden bearer, that thinking I could deal with any situation myself is delusional. Thank You that You are completely faithful and trustworthy. Help me indeed rejoice in You as, by Your strength and wisdom and grace I fulfill the ministry to which You have called me, for Your glory. Thank You. Hallelujah!
